Your washing machine works hard to keep your clothes clean, but it needs a little TLC from time to time too. Here's how to clean a top loading washing machine.
Make sure the washing machine is empty of clothes and any other items.
Fill the washing machine with hot water.
You can use a commercial washing machine cleaner or a mixture of 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar.
This will help to loosen any dirt or grime that has built up.
Once the cycle is complete, drain the water from the washing machine.
Remove the detergent and fabric softener dispensers and clean them with a brush and warm water.
Use a damp cloth to wipe down the inside of the washing machine, paying special attention to the agitator and the drain hose.
Wipe down the washing machine with a dry cloth to remove any moisture.
If you removed the detergent and fabric softener dispensers, reassemble them.
Run a load of laundry to make sure the washing machine is clean and working properly.
